Doing business in Germany? Need to pay someone in Germany but can´t make head or tail of the payment instructions?
Have you recently moved to Germany and wonder why nobody is writing checks and everybody wants to debit or credit your current account directly? Shopping in Germany and few merchants are willing to take your credit card?
Working in a bank or business branch in Germany and not sure how things work over here?

Don´t worry, Payments in Germany is here to help you get your bearings and give you the introduction you want:

  • Need to make sense of the payment instructions on an invoice or want to check how to pay with plastic?
Just check out the introduction to each topic to get a quick overview.
  • Do you regularly make or receive payments in Germany, maybe for your business or when working at a bank or a large company? Do you need background information on how all the parties involved work together?
This site will give you a good understanding of how this works without drifting into "expert speak" nobody can understand.

This site was started in the winter of 2002/2003 and as a consequence, not all topics will be fully developed, yet. Information is added as my time allows. Right now, this means "infrequently at best"

And if you have a burning question that is not answered yet: Send an email and I will see what I can do for you.
